Steve Jobs, iCEO for Apple, conversed with a reoccuring HAL computer from the movie "2001." Ultimately, the all-controlling computer destroys itself [sound like anybody we know?].

Here the computer's big red eye comes in for a really close look at the proceedings.

For detailed news of the show and keynote check out Macintouch, MacCentral, and MacWeek.

Here you'll find the rest of the story.

Using Fire Wire to connect/disconnect a couple of video cameras from a couple of the new G3s, Steve puts his own image on the big screen.

The new G3s -- "available today" -- have both Fire Wire and USB, replacing SCSI and serial connections respectively.

The last face to loom this large over the show audience was... Bill Gates.
